Background on our Photo Program
In 1993 we offered our first program, Venice
Through our Eyes, a documentary photography class with Venice as its subject. documented their community. We modeled our program
after the internationally acclaimed Shooting Back and, a number
of years later welcomed Shooting Back's founder, Jim Hubbard,
as our Creative Director.
One photo
workshop ten years ago has grown into one of Venice Arts' strongest core
programs. We now offer introductory and intermediate black-and-white
photography,
documentary photography, digital photography and interdisciplinary workshops
that may also involve painting, digital and media arts. We teach standard
and digital darkroom techniques and involve our students in special local,
national,
and international documentary projects. We also host several
exhibits of student photography each year at
our own gallery. This Photography
Archive shares pictures taken over the last decade.
