Summer workshops begin Saturday, June 28, 2008. The schedule will be posted by April 30. To see our Winter/Spring schedule click here. Registration for current and past Venice Arts' students will begin at the May 3rd exhibit. For past Venice Arts students unable to make it to the exhibit, you can call us starting June 1st to make an appointment for registration on Saturday,June 14th. An enrollment appointment is required. Registration for new students will be held, also by appointment, on Saturday, June 21st. Space is extremely limited and early registration is strongly suggested.

Vamos a empezar a inscribir niños que tomaron clases este primavera en la exhibición, el 3 de mayo. Para niños que no tomaron clases en el primavera, empezando el 1 de junio, puede llamar para hacer una cita para inscribirse sábado el 14 de junio para estudiantes de continuación, o el 21 dejunio para estudiantes nuevos. Sugerimos que haga una cita para registrarse lo antes posible ya que las clases se llenan rápido.

Families continuing from the Spring 2008 session do not need to bring new documentation of address or income. For new low–income families: In order to receive programs free-of-charge, we are required by our funders to ask you to bring documentation of your address (the community that you live in) and income. This information is kept completely confidential and never leaves your child's file at Venice Arts. Please contact us PRIOR to your registration appointment about what you might bring.

Tuesday
• Intermediate Video
4-6pm / 12 & up / Level: Beginning & Intermediate
Pre-requisites: Intro to Video
This intermediate course will take students to the next level of video production, emphasizing the development of character and storytelling.
• Advanced Studies: Photo - Lab
3-5pm / 13 &up / Level:Advanced
Pre-requisites: Must be enrolled in Advanced Studies: Photo Class
This class is the lab component to the Advanced Projects: Photo class. Students can choose to work in the digital lab or in the B&W dakrroom.
Wednesday
• Intro to Comics
4-6pm / 10 & up / Level: All Levels / Pre-requisites: None
Students will learn the basic elements of telling a story visually
through comic illustration and writing.
• Advanced Studies: Film (Session 1 – lab)
4 -6pm / 13 & up / Level: Advanced
Pre-requisites: Previous enrolment in Venice Arts’ intermediate/
advanced film classes and/or with approval of the Lead Artist.
This spring students will write, produce and shoot a three-minute digital project. In addition, students will explore media literacy through hands on-exercises, screening and analysis. This class meets twice per week (see Saturday, Advanced Studies: Film - Session 2).
• Darkroom (part of Intermediate B&W class)
4-6pm / 14 & up / Level: Intermediate
Pre-requisites: Only open to students in the Intermediate B&W class.
Students will expand upon their knowledge in the darkroom to learn more alternative darkroom techniques.
Thursday
• Magazine Publishing
4-6pm / 13 & up / Level: Intermediate
Pre-requisites: Approval of the Lead Artist.
Use your photographs, illustrations and writing to create your own magazine.
• Intro to Video
4-6pm / 10 & 12 / Level: Beginning & Intermediate
Pre-requisites: None
Learn the basics of moviemaking in this fun, project-based class.
• Beginning / Intermediate Photography for Teens
1:30pm-3:30pm / 13 & up / Level: Beginning & Intermediate
Pre-requisites: None
Students will learn about photographic techniques while shooting with digital SLR cameras and using Adobe Photoshop. They will learn to make inkjet prints and post their work online and learn to tell their own stories through photography.
• Darkroom (part of Intermediate B&W class)

Pre-requisites: Only open to students in the Intermediate B&W class.
Students will expand upon their knowledge in the darkroom to learn more alternative darkroom techniques.
• Advanced Studies: Photo - Class
4-6pm/13&up/Level:Advanced
Pre-requisites: Permission of Lead Mentor
Students will learn to create their own individual photography projects while learning more advanced techniques in photography. Depending on their level of experience, students can choose to work in B&W film or digitally.
Saturday
• Digital Painting: Beyond the Brush
10-11:30am / 10 & up / Level: Beginning and Intermediate
Pre-requisites: None
New and continuing students explore the fundamentals of painting and learn various digital tools that will help them expand their creativity.
• Introduction To Digital Animation
11:30am-1pm / 12 & up / Level: Intermediate
Pre-requisites: Previous enrolment in Venice Arts’ digital classes and/or with approval of the Lead Artist.
Continuing students learn 2D animation and how to create all-digital movies.
• Beginning / Intermediate Photo Projects
10am-12pm / 10 - 12 / Level: Beginning & Intermediate
Pre-requisites: None
Students will shoot with digital SLR cameras while working on a
class project. Returning students will learn new skills and
techniques while new students will learn the basics.
• Intermediate B&W Photography
1-3pm / 13 & up / Level: Intermediate
Pre-requisites: At least 1 year of photography at Venice Arts or previous experiece in B&W photography & darkroom.
Students will expand upon their photography knowledge and learn more intermediate/advanced B&W photographic techniques in shooting and in the darkroom. There is a required darkroom
component to this class on Fridays from 4-6pm.
• Advanced Studies Film (session 2)
1-3pm / 13 & up / Level: Advanced
Pre-requisites: Must be signed up for session 1 class
