AJA @ Venice Arts
Sunday, June 3, 2007

The AJA Project brought ten teens, originally hailing from such diverse locations as the Sudan, Ethiopia, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Mexico, to Venice Arts to work with Creative Director Jim Hubbard, assisted by Youth Art Mentor Francesca Thomas. Funded through a grant to AJA from the National Endowment for the Arts, the teens spent the day learning about the methods of documentary photography and the key components of creating strong visual stories. They also viewed work by other youth and spent several hours shooting at Venice Beach. The AJA Project is a nonprofit based in San Diego, California that runs participant–created photography programs with refugee children around the world. Check back with The AJA Project to learn more. |
