Chapter 01:

SUNNY'S  S T O R Y

The first in an occassional series from Venice Arts' year–long project What's Your Story.

Chapter 02: Alex' Story

"My name is Sunny War. I'm 18. I'm from Nashville, Tennessee and I'm a finger–picker. Everybody in Nashville plays guitar. I just wanted to be like them, I guess. I play on the Boardwalk because of the tourists. They pay me enough to eat and to get strings and other things."

Sunny War is a young musician who earns her living on the Venice Beach Boardwalk. She was one of three subjects (the other two were Metal Ball Man and The World Greatest Wino) featured in this documentary Voices of Venice: The Boardwalk. Completed in 2009 by a team of Venice Arts' teen filmmakers, the film premiered with two screenings on June 3, 2009 at the Canal Club in Venice, California with a Q&A session with filmmakers Itzel Antonio, Samuel Bruce, Zola Glassman, McKenna Haslam, Wesley Howard, Bryan Lopez, Jocelyn Ramirez, and Carolina Turcios. A trailer was also shown at the Venice Neighborhood Council's community meeting.
